Q: What should I do if I think my child needs speech therapy?
We start with a brief phone conversation to discuss your concerns and suspected areas of need. From there, it may be recommended to schedule a screening or evaluation.

Q: What does an evaluation consist of?
Speech and language evaluation is scheduled at your home or child’s school and typically includes a standardized assessment, clinical observations, and parent input to create a thorough profile of your child’s communication skills. A formal report is provided to you and can be shared with other service providers and health professionals at your request.

Q: How do you monitor progress?
A treatment plan with measurable and data-driven goals is created for each client and formal progress reports are provided quarterly. Additional progress reports and revaluations are completed on an as-needed basis or per request.

The structure of a treatment sessions differs for each child and is dependent upon their individual learning styles and preferences. Most often, therapy for youngsters is play-based in which skill building is integrated into the activity they are engaged in at that moment. School-aged children typically participate in more structured tasks and motivation is maintained with breaks, games, and incentives.

Absolutely. Working on speech and language skills within the context of homework assignments and school reading material is preferred in order to provide your child with a well-rounded learning experience and to ensure treatment is as productive and efficient as possible.
